Welcome to Slushimaker. I test frozen drink recipes to help you get a consistent texture, choose the right programme and avoid mixtures that will not freeze properly.
Who writes here

My name is Camille Roos, I am 36 and I spent several years working as a barista. I made frappés, iced coffees and drinks to order, then kept comparing methods at home: blender and crushed ice, ice cream maker, countertop slush machine, and finally the Ninja Slushi.
I mainly test with an FS301 and an FS605 Max. The first is my everyday machine and handles frappés; the second is for larger batches. This hands-on approach helps me explain what each programme changes and offer an alternative when a model does not have the function used in a recipe.
Our editorial method
- Test before publishing. I record texture, freezing, cold holding and any adjustments required. A failed batch is often more useful than a perfect promise.
- Check compatibility. Every recipe names the compatible models, the programme used and, where possible, an alternative for other machines.
- Explain why. Sugar, alcohol, fibre and starting temperature all affect freezing. Understanding them is more useful than following instructions blindly.
- Correct clearly. If new testing changes a setting or conclusion, the page is updated.
