Ninja Slushi compatibility
Program used: Frozen Cocktail (frozen cocktail)
The classic combination of Piña Colada and Strawberry Daiquiri, brought together in one bowl for a summer cocktail without dragging out the blender. With a blender, making the layers takes forever. With the Slushi, I mix everything at once for a simplified pink version. The result is deliciously frozen, flavorful, and ready to be enjoyed through a straw. It is the perfect compromise when you are hosting friends and want to enjoy the drinks rather than juggling crushed ice.

Ingredients
150 ml white rum
150 ml strawberry syrup
300 ml pineapple juice
150 ml coconut cream
20 ml lime juice
230 ml water
Instructions
- In a container, vigorously mix the rum, strawberry syrup, pineapple juice, coconut cream, lime juice, and water.
- Pour the mixture into the Ninja Slushi bowl (the level will be about 1 litre, well above the minimum). The water helps balance the fat in the coconut cream to make it freeze more easily.
- Select the Frozen Cocktail program and let the machine churn until you achieve a consistent frozen texture.
- Serve in tall glasses with a fresh strawberry or a piece of pineapple.

The true two-tone version in two stages : If you insist on the classic marbled look: prepare the strawberry base first and store it in the freezer, then rinse the bowl and make the coconut-pineapple base before assembling in layers.

The traditional Miami Vice is distinguished by its separate layers: a red one for the Daiquiri, a white one for the Piña Colada. I spent hours behind the bar making these drinks in a blender, and it is a massive amount of work if you have more than two guests. With the Slushi, I prefer to assemble everything from the start. The color turns into a very festive bright pink, and most importantly, the flavors marry instantly. If you are looking for other ideas for your parties, I have also adapted the Ninja Slushi Frozen Margarita so it is just as quick to start.
Fat and alcohol balance in the bowl
This cocktail presents a small technical challenge: coconut cream provides fat that tends to freeze differently than sugary water. This is why I always add a portion of plain water to this recipe. The water will thin out the cream and allow the Frozen Cocktail program to create fine crystals instead of a pasty mass. Regarding the alcohol, the rule remains strict: with 150 ml of 40% white rum for one litre of drink, we are exactly at the ratio that freezes well without taxing the compressor unnecessarily.
Do you prefer this blended pink version or do you take the time to make the layers separately?
Frequently asked questions
Why add water when there is already juice?
Coconut cream is very rich. Water helps lighten the preparation so that the compressor can form a fine, consistent snow without the fat freezing into solid blocks.
Can I use blended fresh strawberries?
Yes, but you must strain the purée to remove small seeds (achenes) that could interfere with the machine’s auger. Also, compensate for the natural sugar by adjusting the amount of syrup.
Is the Frozen Cocktail program essential?
For this alcoholic recipe, yes. Alcohol lowers the freezing point, and this program is calibrated to cool the bowl sufficiently without clogging it.
