Ninja Slushi compatibility
Program used: Slush (slushie)
A very simple drink transformed into a true frozen wonder, with a sparkling and fruity blend perfect for surprising guests without a drop of alcohol. Letting the soda go a little flat prevents it from foaming too much in the vessel during churning. The result in the Ninja Slushi is ultra-refreshing, with a texture that is perfect for sipping slowly. If you love sweet and floral flavours, this preparation rivals classics like the Watermelon Rose Water Granita.

minutesA sparkling apple-raspberry mocktail transformed into a refreshing frozen drink.
Ingredients
400 mL pure apple juice
400 mL bitter lemon (or lemonade/flat lemon soda)
150 mL raspberry syrup
100 mL water
Instructions
- In a container, mix the apple juice, bitter lemon, raspberry syrup, and water. Ensure the soda has lost some of its fizz. The syrup provides the sugar necessary to prevent the mixture from freezing into a solid block of ice.
- Pour the mixture into the Ninja Slushi vessel, ensuring you stay between the min and max fill lines.
- Select the Slush programme and let it run until you reach a frozen texture that is perfect for drinking through a straw.
- Serve in tall glasses with a few fresh raspberries or a thin slice of apple as a garnish.
Apple Rose version with alcohol
Add 100 mL of gin or vodka to the mixture before launching the Frozen Cocktail programme, while reducing the water very slightly.

I love using sodas to add a tangy note to my mocktails, but watch out for the bubbles! The continuous churning of the auger makes carbonated liquids foam excessively, which can quickly overflow the vessel or distort the max level. This is why I advise you to always let your bitter lemon go a bit flat before pouring it in. Stir it vigorously with the apple juice and syrup beforehand: you will keep the soda flavour without turning the machine into a bubble bath.
The role of syrup: not just for flavour
In a non-alcoholic drink, sugar is your only antifreeze. Without the generous addition of raspberry syrup in this recipe (which balances with the bitterness of the lemon), the water and juice would eventually freeze into a hard block instead of forming that beautiful fluid texture. If you find the mixture a little too sweet before putting it into the machine, that is normal: the intense cold numbs the taste buds and reduces the perception of sweetness. Do not lower the dose!

Frequently asked questions
Can I use a different drink instead of bitter lemon?
Yes, classic lemonade or tonic water work very well, provided you let them go a little flat before adding them to the preparation.
Why is the machine beeping with a red light?
This is often a sign that the mixture is too firm and is putting strain on the motor. Ensure you have not reduced the quantity of syrup, as its sugar content is crucial for the right consistency.
How long does the mocktail keep in the Slushi?
As long as the appliance is turned on to the Slush programme, the texture remains perfect for serving. If you turn it off, the preparation will melt in less than an hour.
