Ninja Slushi compatibility
Program used: Frappé (frappé)
No Frappé program on the XL and Max; use Milkshake and adjust the texture.
In a blender, my coffee frappé always ended up too watery, but direct freezing in the Ninja Slushi changes everything. A standard blender crushes ice and dilutes the coffee, while this machine freezes the plant-based mixture directly for a much more intense result. With the right syrup ratio, you get a velvety, dense texture that is perfect for sipping through a straw. The freshness is incomparable, and the roasted coffee aromas blend beautifully with the sweetness of the oat milk.

Ingredients
500 ml strong filter coffee (pre-chilled)
400 ml oat milk (or hazelnut milk)
100 ml vanilla or caramel syrup
Instructions
- Mix the chilled coffee, oat milk, and syrup in a pitcher. The sugar in the syrup is mandatory to ensure the mixture does not freeze into a solid block.
- Pour the mixture into the Ninja Slushi bowl (the 1000 ml mark is perfectly situated between the min and max levels).
- Select the Frappé program and let the machine work until you achieve a dense, frosty texture.
- Serve immediately in large glasses with a wide straw.
Protein-packed vegan frappé
Protein-packed vegan frappé: Mix 30 g of plant-based protein (vanilla or chocolate) with the oat milk before incorporating the coffee and syrup for a post-workout recovery drink.

View recipeWhy sugar is essential in your plant-based frappés
I often hear the desire to make 100% sugar-free coffee frappés for a healthier version. The issue with a machine that freezes the preparation by direct contact is that without sugar, your oat coffee will freeze into one large block of ice instead of forming that beautiful, drinkable snow. Sugar acts as an antifreeze, which is essential to the process. In this recipe, the 100 ml of syrup provides the exact concentration required for the Frappé program to churn continuously without stalling the auger. If you are using a plant-based milk that is already very sweet, you can slightly reduce the amount, but I advise against going below 70 ml of syrup for a total liter of preparation. You can also consult our classic recipe for coffee frappé with milk in the Ninja Slushi to compare textures.
Handling different plant-based milks
Not all plant-based milks react the same way to intense cold. Oat milk is my absolute favorite because its naturally creamy and slightly rich texture creates a dense frappé that holds up well over time. Almond milk, often higher in water content and less fatty, tends to crystallize a bit faster, giving a texture that is more like a granita than a cream. If you opt for hazelnut milk, the pairing with coffee is fabulous, but check the sugar content on the label to adjust your syrup accordingly. And remember: the coffee must be poured very cold into the bowl. If it comes straight from the coffee maker, it will significantly lengthen the setting time and put unnecessary strain on the machine’s compressor.

Frequently asked questions
I don’t have the Frappé program on my XL model, what should I do?
Don’t panic! On XL and Max models, launch the Milkshake program. Simply monitor the consistency through the bowl and serve when the texture is to your liking.
Can I make this recipe without any syrup?
No, the machine needs a minimum sugar content (Brix) to prevent the liquid from freezing into a hard block. The syrup guarantees the right texture for your frappé.
My frappé is too liquid, what happened?
Either you added the coffee while it was still hot, or there was not enough sugar. You can add a tablespoon of syrup and let the machine run for a few more minutes.
